CE SOIR — Tonight, a Story of Asian Soul
Tucked away atop a colonial black-and-white bungalow at Portsdown Road, CE SOIR is an intimate fine dining experience helmed by Chef Seth Lai, winner of the MICHELIN Guide Young Chef Award 2024.
What began as an ode to beauty and nature has evolved into a deeply personal expression of modern Asian cuisine, refined with Japanese sensibilities. Each dish draws from Chef Seth’s kampong childhood in Teluk Intan, Malaysia — memories of gathering eggs, seaside markets, and home-cooked traditions — reimagined with the finesse of Japanese ingredients and seasonal inspiration.
CE SOIR isn’t about French cooking. It’s about stories told through flavor.

ABOUT THE CHEF

Chef Seth Lai
Born in Teluk Intan, Malaysia, and raised among backyard farms and seaside markets, Chef Seth Lai brings a deeply personal perspective to modern Asian cuisine. At just 27, he became one of Singapore’s youngest chefs to earn a MICHELIN star, and in 2024, was named Winner of the MICHELIN Guide Singapore Young Chef Award. His culinary style blends Southeast Asian nostalgia with Japanese elegance, transforming humble childhood memories into refined, story-driven tasting menus. At CE SOIR, Chef Seth invites diners into his world — where every dish is a reflection of his roots, emotions, and aspirations.
